Hello. I am Marybeth Markham, a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (License LH60558821) specializing in individual, couples and family therapy. I have a private practice in Spokane, WA. I also travel to homes within Eastern Washington and am available for phone or Skype sessions.
My commitment to working in social services began in 1986, following the death of my brother. Since then, I have served people of all ages, abilities and economic levels. I have a strong commitment to making treatment accessible to children, families, and adults seeking to improve their functioning and relationships. This includes offering an inviting, safe, affordable, and confidential setting to do the healing work and growth my clients desire.
I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
I received a BLS from Whitworth University, graduating summa cum laude. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from LIOS Graduate College.
I completed the Core Therapist training for survivors of sexual assault and abuse. This training is a joint project of The Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs and Washington State Office of Crime Victims. I received training from the Medical University of South Carolina in TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy) and using TF-CBT for Childhood Traumatic Grief. These evidence based practices are recognized as being among the most effective interventions for children who have significant psychological symptoms related to trauma exposures. I also received training in CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) through the Medical University of South Carolina and Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Academy to enable me to work with veterans and their families.
I am a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health and adhere to their Standards of Care.
